Andrew Turner has taken up an offer from Labrokes to put a £50 charity bet on the Grand National taking place this afternoon. The Island’s MP visited the Ladbrokes shop in Pyle Street, Newport and met Area Manager Cramer Evans. He decided to place two bets, £10 each way on the current favourite Definitly Red and £15 each way on The Last Samuri, who finished in second place in the race last year..
Mr Turner commented:
“Many people like a flutter on the Grant National, and I was pleased to take up the offer from Ladbrokes to place a charity bet. I know nothing about betting and very little about racing, but a friend suggested that The Last Samuri could do well, so I intended to back that. However once I got there and looked at the list of horses I thought I should maybe split the bet, so I also backed the favourite at that time Definitly Red. I’m happy to back a red runner in this race – but of course I’m hoping for a blue victory on May 4Th. I hope one of the two horses comes in, but I’m not holding my breath.
In the unlikely event that I win I’ll split the winnings between the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary and Ability Dogs for Young People – so keep your fingers crossed!
